IBI
Ibi is
situated 816 metres above sea level and is the largest town in
the Foia de Castalla surrounded by lovely views of mountains
and gorges which stretch as far as the eye can see. As you
drive into the town the fields are full of Olive and Almond
trees. The town itself is full of many different varieties of
modern shops and restaurants which line the main street and
stretch from one end of the town to the other. There are
museums and local parks which are maintained to a high
standard and lovely to walk through or to sit and have a
picnic. The locals are friendly and always willing to help. As
you walk away from the local high street you can really
experience the old part of the town with the narrow streets
and old bars, a really good example of an old Spanish town.
Some of the most important monuments in Ibi
are the Catholic church of the Transfiguration and the
monument to the
Three
Wise Men, the only one in the world.
The
economy
of Ibi is chiefly based on the
toy
industry, the most important of this kind in Spain. As a
result, many other related industries have also emerged in the
last years:
plastic,
metal,
machinery and so on. There are some factories of
construction materials,
ice
creams and tiger nut milk, too.
