San Vicente is a prosperous modern large industrial town situated on the outskirts of Alicante city, well connected to the coast where much of the residential development has occurred over the last fifty years. Industry is the main economic activity and many companies are located in several industrial estates throughout the area.  Here you will find the University of Alicante. Approximately 30 000 students attend the college and consequently the area is home to a number of foreign residents although the majority of the population is Spanish.
